We all are looking for ways to keep our appearance young, fresh and vibrant. With so many aesthetic treatments available, it’s no wonder that the beauty industry grew 4.5% last year and generated over $511 billion in revenue. There are always new, state of the art treatments that are making a daily debut. In fact, it’s hard to keep up with this ever changing industry.
At ISPW we have incorporated a Regenerative Aesthetic side to our practice to compliment our Regenerative Medicine portion. We have the motto that when you look good, you feel good. By giving patients the tools to live their best life, we hope to help them reach their health goals. Whether it be the health of their body or the health of their skin. We also believe in offering regenerative therapies and procedures that are more natural and actually heal the tissues from within the skin.
Below are some of my favorite procedures that I do regularly to keep my own skin looking and feeling great.
Regenerative Hair Treatment
This regenerative medicine treatment uses nanoparticles to stimulate old or damaged cells to function more optimally. Nanoparticles are compounds and components such as, peptides, proteins, cytokines, and anti-inflammatory properties found in amniotic fluid. Amniotic fluid is the fluid that surrounds a growing fetus to protect it and keep it healthy. This fluid contains a large amount of beneficial components. In the past these nutrient rich tissues were usually discarded after birth. Then researchers and scientists started studying the tissue finding the benefits and anti-inflammatory properties that it contains.
Today, these nanoparticles are harvested from a donor who goes through a heavy FDA cleared screening process as well as a third-party background check. The tissue comes from a donor who has a live cesarean birth. The tissue is sent to the lab to be screened and tested again before going through a thorough sterilization process.
When the nanoparticles are injected into a patient’s scalp it may stimulate hair follicles that could be dormant or may not be fully functional. The nanoparticles help to stimulate the follicles creating new hair growth.
Now, I personally don’t use this treatment for myself. I have tried it though, but because my hair follicles are dead in certain areas, I am not a candidate.
Patients are not considered candidates if they:
- are completely bald
- their hair follicle is dead
Men will usually need two treatments, which takes about 60-90 days for results and women usually need one treatment with a 60-90 days for results. A patient can then determine if they want to do further treatment.
Regenerative Facial Treatment
My second favorite Regenerative Aesthetic treatment is the Regenerative Facial treatment.
This treatment uses the same nanoparticle technology to be micro-needled into the face. The nanoparticles also have a very high dose of hyaluronic acid which helps to stimulate natural collagen and elastin in the skin, giving you a tighter and more youthful appearance. In just 1-3 treatments you can help to rejuvenate your face and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
When a patient comes in for this service, he or she will start with a microneedling session to help create tiny micro-traumas to the skin. Creating the micro-trauma creates channels in the skin for the nanoparticles to penetrate. Anyone who has had micro-needling done previously, knows that your skin is very red after the procedure, but when adding the nanoparticles onto the skin the anti-inflammatory properties help to reduce the inflammation and return the skin back to normal.
This treatment is great for anyone who wants to naturally:
- reduce fine lines and wrinkles
- increase collagen production
- smooth the appearance
- tighten and brighten the skin
- people who smoke
- anyone with bleeding disorders or skin diseases
- if you have been diagnosed with cancer
PRP Facial
This treatment uses your own body to naturally heal itself. Platelet-Rich-Plasma with microneedling helps to regenerate the skin, increasing your collagen and elastin production. Skin needling by itself is great to reduce the appearance of scars, smooth the skin’s surface and helps to naturally tighten it. When you add the benefits of PRP, you increase the results and add natural hyaluronic acid to the skin to help plump and rejuvenate it.
PRP is harvested from your own blood. The blood is placed in a centrifuge to be spun down, separating the plasma from the red blood cells. The platelet-rich-plasma contain many growth factors that when used while microneedling, may help to stimulate damaged cells so the function more optimally.
This treatment can be done up to six times a year. Your skin goals will determine that amount of treatments that are recommended.
Patients who would not benefit from this treatment are:
- people who smoke
- anyone with bleeding disorders or skin diseases
- if you have been diagnosed with cancer
Before receiving a treatment a thorough consultation will be done to determine if this treatment would be right for you.
Finally
As we age it’s more important than ever to protect and take care of our skin. This will help optimize the appearance of the skin. Regenerative Medicine has many benefits including helping to heal your damaged or injured joints/tissues, or helping to keep your skin looking young, fresh and vibrant.
